Community Extension
Rationale
As an institution of higher learning, Riverside College shares the view that authentic education encompasses instruction, research and community extension. Hence, the Community Extension Office was created as an expression of the school’s commitment towards maintaining the standards of higher education. The essence of this approach is to provide the students and faculty the opportunity of integrating theory and practice through community extension while concurrently responding to the needs of the larger society through community service and research initiatives.

Goals and Objectives
As the community extension arm of the institution, the Community Extension Office is directly responsible for implementing and sustaining the outreach and community service program of Riverside College. In coordination with the different units of the school and in partnership with the external community and other organizations, the office conceives and executes its community extension program aimed at:
- intensifying the involvement of the administrators, staff, faculty and students in outreach projects and activities;
- enhancing the awareness and commitment of the different sectors of the school towards reform and transformation;
- providing the students and faculty opportunities for integrating and enriching their theoretical understanding with practical application;
- establishing and fostering partnership with the external community; and
- providing the institution an occasion to translate into action and express in a more concrete and compassionate manner its motto of “Lux et Caritas.”
