| Course Description |
The course Bio-Medical Equipment Technician is a two-year course leading to the degree “ Biomedical Equipment Servicing NC II”, a new course offered by Riverside College.
This course involves the training of the students in the total management of healthcare technology beyond repairs and scheduled maintenance; such as, capitol asset planning, project management, budgeting and personnel management, designing interfaces and integrating medical systems, training end-users to utilize medical technology, and evaluating new devices for acquisition. |

Future in Bio-Medical Equipment Technician |
Biomedical technicians can be employed in a variety of roles including the veterinary service, the Health and Safety Executive, university and forensic laboratories, pharmaceutical and product manufacturers.
There are opportunities for biomedical technicians to use their training and skills in healthcare posts and projects around the world. They can be involved in voluntary work in developing countries on behalf of international bodies such as the World Health Organization and the Voluntary Service Overseas.
They can be employed by hospitals, clinics, private sector, and the military. These persons install, inspect, maintain, repair, calibrate, modify and design biomedical equipment and support systems to adhere to medical standard guidelines.
Biomedical technicians are now increasingly found in the primary care setting. There is the opportunity for students to use their training and skills in healthcare posts and projects around the world. The skills of a biomedical technician are highly sought after for international healthcare projects in hospitals, schools and universities.
Like any profession they can get involve in professional activities where you can develop skills in media, politics, organizing events and discussion groups, networking and professional representation and roles.
In many cases, the Biomedical Technologist can work strictly with all patient care equipment. |
