Message from the President
Greetings.
It is with pride that I welcome you to an institution with such a rich and storied past. My father, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Sr., started Riverside College with the School of Midwifery on June 11, 1961. The School of Nursing opened a few short years later on June 26, 1963. He had only a handful of teachers and students then but he and those working with him, carried in their hearts the determined mission: "to produce Christocentric, competent, and competitive health care professionals through quality education."
Anchored on the motto "Lux et Caritas", Riverside College continuously aspires to instill moral values, critical and creative thinking, and enrich technological knowledge and skills onto each and every one of its students.
Today, we have brilliant teachers and professors on our staff, our classrooms are well-equipped, and our campus facilities are among the best in the province. More importantly, we maintain a curriculum that is first-rate, where hands-on training is assured in a real hospital environment. We also provide avenues for numerous co-curricular activities because we understand how these contribute to a well-rounded college experience. We develop and cultivate not only classroom and laboratory knowledge, but individual wisdom and character as a whole.
This bold mission and vision has been our guide for the past half-decade, making us one of the leading centers of discovery and learning in the province of Negros today.
I hope you find Riverside College as exciting and as enriching a place as all those that came before you. Great education is defined, not as the easy acceptance of what we already know, but the relentless determination to discover what we still have to learn.
In behalf of the Administration, Faculty, and Staff, welcome to Riverside College!
DR. HECTOR L. TORRE
President
