Course Description

This 2–year course is designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills in receiving, analyzing prescriptions for dispensing, preparing medication as prescribed by doctors or as requested by clients, performing dispensing operations, stock control, housekeeping and maintenance under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Pharmacy service men and women work in clean and organized areas, which are well ventilated and well lit. Secondly, there are good job opportunities, especially for those individuals who have experience and formal training or hold a pharmacy services certification. The laboratory work and classroom study provided in the pharmacy services classes typically cover subjects like medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical techniques and calculations, pharmacy record keeping, Accounting, Economics, Administration and Material Management.

With the help of experienced, well-trained instructors and properly conceived study materials based on official coursework, the program use well-structured, comprehensive TESDA-approved pharmacy services coursework, enabling the students to form a great level of conceptual knowledge (medical terminology). In addition, the program includes community pharmacy internship, which aims to form a series of practical abilities required in the pharmacy services profession.

Future in Pharma Services

A pharmacy service man may work in places such as the hospitals, medical stores, health and personal care stores, retail or mail order pharmacies, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Considering the fact that the pharmacy industry has continuously evolved and expanded in the following years, increasingly larger numbers of pharmacy services job vacancies are nowadays available. Experienced, certified pharmacy service men and women can receive a substantially higher salary if they occupy jobs in popular and successful pharmaceutical chains.
