| Course Description |
Diploma in Midwifery is a two-year program consisting of general education and professional courses which prepare students for entry-level midwifery competencies. This 2-year direct entry program includes Clinical Practicum in Foundations of Midwifery, Normal Obstetrics and Care of the Newborn, Introduction to high risk Obstetrics, Basic Care of Infants and Feeding, Basic Family Planning, Primary Health Care and Midwifery Ethics, Law and Practice. |

Why take the course? |
| After the 2-year training, graduates are qualified to take the government licensure examinations. Licensed midwives can work in various health care set-ups like hospitals, birthing centers, birthing homes, puericulture, etc. Moreover, they can also be independent entrepreneurs. Furthermore, they are given the freedom to work independently as per mandated by World Health Organization and Department of Health under the Millennium Developmental Goal Program. |

Future in Midwifery |
| Graduates of the diploma in midwifery may be employed as staff midwife, domiciliary midwife, rural midwife or if he/she has a passion in teaching, then he/she may work as a clinical instructor. |
